H: 36 cm

Completely naked, wearing his winged helmet and sitting on a tree trunk covered with a drapery, he holds in one hand the sword with which he is about to kill the giant Argos, guardian of Io, and in the other the flute of Pan.

The original of this sculpture was in marble, made in 1818 by Bertel Thorvaldsen, 1.73 m high, and kept in the Copenhagen museum.

Several copies of this marble were made after the artist's death in the Lazzarini workshop in Carrara.
