This drawing is a sketch for the Roman chariot race at the Circus Maximus with quadriga in the presence of Emperor Domitian dated 1882 and painted by Alexander von Wagner (1838-1919) at the Manchester art gallery painted for the 1873 exhibition in Vienna.
This painting is considered the masterpiece of the Hungarian artist and has had a definite influence on the history of this episode, even influencing the staging of the film Ben Hur.
